About Us

The Bigger Picture of AELIOS

Co-funded by the European Union and the Clean Hydrogen Partnership, AELIOS develops a robust and sustainable Alkaline Electrolyser capable of operating flexibly with renewable energy sources.

AELIOS makes high-pressure hydrogen production more cost-effective and scalable, by addressing critical challenges such as stack efficiency, component degradation, and material circularity.

The main objectives of the project are advanced 3-D structured Ni-based electrodes, innovative BPP coatings, and flexible operation strategies, paving the way for the future of renewable energy integration and a net-zero economy.

Our Vision & Mission

Our Why

The Vision – Achieving 2030 climate targets and fostering a circular, carbon-free energy future.

AELIOS aims to be a pillar of the global transition to a net-zero economy by making green hydrogen production scalable, sustainable, and circular. The project envisions a future where high-performance electrolysis is the standard, enabling the seamless integration of fluctuating renewable power into a clean energy grid.

Our How

The Mission – Robust materials, flexible operation, and cost-efficient scaling.

AELIOS intends to design and validate a next-generation Alkaline Electrolyser that bridges the gap between renewable energy and industrial hydrogen production. By engineering advanced 3-D nickel-based electrodes and durable coatings. The project has the objective of maximizing efficiency and operational flexibility while drastically reducing capital and maintenance costs.
